Girls Day Out

On Saturday I decided to take Kiersten to get her hair cut. We went all by ourselves which doesn't happen very much. I could tell she really like being out alone with mom so I decided we should go get our nails done also - a win win for both of us. We got a drink and snack and then to the nail salon. We had a great time - she was grinning from ear to ear.

Her primary teachers husband was getting baptized and so just her and I went to the baptism and let Matt stay home with the boys. Matt took the red eye home from Seattle on Saturday morning so he was exhausted.

Kiersten and I spent the day together and had a great time. She talks non-stop but is very sweet and a joy to be with. She is so excited about the baby she can hardly stand it.

Here's a question for you - yesterday she asked me how the baby comes out? How do you explain that to a 6 year old? Any suggestions would be great! Boys would never ask that but her little mind is trying to figure it out.

My little DUDE...

Brandon is my shopping buddy - he always has to run errands. He is very good about it and actually gets mad when it is time to go home. He brings either his airplanes, tech deck (mini skateboard) or hot wheel cars and the stores are his track. Brandon is all boy and everything he sees is a race track.

Yesterday we were running through Wal-mart and Trader Joes and I kept asking him to keep up. I would say, "Come on baby - let's go!" A few minutes later he replied - I'm a dude. I didn't get it at first and finally at Trader Joe's he said it again. "I'm a dude - not a baby!"

I said, "I'm sorry, do I keep calling you baby? You are a big boy aren't you." I said you are my baby and he replied, "no, your baby is in your tummy...I want a baby in my tummy!" Anyway, he is trying to be so grown up and is still so sweet. We have a good time together and hopefully his world will not be turned upside down with this new little girl coming soon!

Brandon is a snuggle bunny and loves to be in a blanket with me on the couch. He always ask me to come and snuggle. Brandon plays so hard all day that by evening he is exhausted. We have started reading the Book of Mormon with the kids every night for a few minutes. We sit on the couch and Matt normally reads to them. It is almost comical because it takes all of 1 mintues of silence (no TV or horseplay) and just Matt's voice to put him instantly to sleep. It's actually quite amazing. He is not getting anything out of reading the scriptures but it sure makes bedtime quick and easy.

Pinewood Derby - February 5, 2008

Austin had his 1st Pinewood Derby on Tuesday night. He had a great time making his car and at the race. We are new at this and we definitely learned some things for next year. Matt had to rearrange some work travel so he could be there but it was worth all of it.

We are in a great ward and there were about 12 boys racing. Here the pictures from the evening...

Austin won some races and lost some races but overall a good experience.

Kiersten watching and wanting to be involved herself...next year she wants to make one.

The competition - good looking cars!

Austin's award was Best Incognito.

Exciting baby purchase

Last year I decided to sell the baby crib and bedding that I had for Brandon, Kiersten and Austin knowing that if I did decide to have another baby it would be necessary for a new crib. We purchased our first crib while in Law School from a yard sale. It was a very nice crib but after 3 big babies and 4 moves it was a little worn out.

After finding out we were having a girl, I was trying to decide what to buy and where to put the kids. I think we have decided to put the 2 boys together for a little while on bunk beds and give Brandon's room to the new baby.

We found some furniture that we like that didn't cost and arm and a leg. I thought I would share it with you! The top picture is the bedding and the bottom picture is the crib. It is starting to feel very real!

A friend of mine brought over many clothes for our new baby girl - some really cute stuff and an awesome swing!! Thanks Michelle and Jason! Very excited - 3 more months to go!
