Austin's OWN room

Because we move so much, we try and help the kids make their rooms their own by decorating to their taste. Austin and Brandon had been sharing a room, but we decided it was time to get Austin into his own room.  He has really gotten into sports and basketball seems to be his favorite, so we went with a basketball room.

We have never tried two tone walls, but decided we had enough experience that we were going to give it a try.  Dark blue on top with a gray below and lots of basketball stuff in between.  We built a solid black border between the two colors to offset the room.

It is tough to see the entire room, but mostly black furniture with the camo blanket.  It turned out better than Marci or thought it would.  I think Austin likes it and it is definitely a more grown up one.

Marci and I found this dresser at an estate sale.  It smelled like an old house for a long time, but we took it and sanded it down and took the old brown stain off and restained it a darker color, almost black.  A change of hardware and a few weeks work turned it into a nice dresser.

Marci found some cool basketball stickers and decals for the walls.  They give the room a contemporary look.
