After some coaxing from our good friend Howard, Austin decided that he would play football again this year. He was worried about Sunday games, but the coaches worked really well with Austin and made it into a great season. Austin was a "striper" meaning he had a striped helmet indicating he was too heavy to carry the ball. So, he played offense and defense on the line. Like his dad, except skinny!
Austin absolutely loved to run, at practice, during warmups, anytime he could. The coaches would threaten the team with running drills and Austin would readily accept. He was just about the fastest on the team, playing offensive tackle...
Number 18, blocking down the line. It was a fun year and spending Saturday at the football field was a real joy.
