The boys were all at scout camp but we wanted to have some fun! Kelly, Kiersten, Brandon, Joel, Reagan and I headed downtown for the first time. We drove and the weather was not that great but the skyline is still impressive. Kelly thought the 4 story mall was big when we were driving into town from North Carolina. I had to show her that the building get much larger than that!!
The Museum of Science and Industry is my favorite museum in the Chicago area. The exhibits are very hands on for the kids and interesting for me.
This area is the Idea Factory. All about movement and the object you are moving is a ball. Contraptions, water, wind, etc.
This is an actual u505 submarine. The moved in to the land and then built the building around it. It is a massive object and very interesting.

The Farm area is always a hit. Driving a combine; driving a tractor, milking the cows, etc!
We went a special classroom lab experiment this particular day call Happy Burrrthday! The scientist used liquid nitrogen to perform some experiments. It was Awesome! The kids got to help and they we thrilled! The final experiment was to make ice cream with milk, cream, sugar and liquid nitrogen. It was YUMMY!
They also have a genetics section and one of the displays is watching baby chicks hatch. I don't know what it is about watching a baby chick hatch that is so captivating but we all stood and watched forever!
