Hold on to your seat - things are getting crazy...

These past few weeks have been a little stressful - crazy - unexpected, etc. Here in Charlotte, NC we have had a gasoline shortage due to the recent Hurricanes in the gulf. Then panic set in and it got even worse. Can you imagine waiting in long lines for gas and then having there be a limit on how much you can buy? It sounds like a story out of the history books but we have been living it for 2 weeks now. 2 weeks ago we were complaining that gas cost 4.00 a gallon - now we are just happy to get gas and will pay whatever it cost. I guess it is all perspective. It also makes you realize many things that we take for granted. If you don't have gas for our cars, the mail doesn't run, the school buses can't go, food can't get to the stores, etc.

We are so blessed to have church leaders who are inspired to tell us to be prepared, to keep extra food, fuel, etc. It is hard to imagine the reasons why these things are necessary but we should obey our leaders and have faith. Who would have thought that a hurricane in the gulf would be the reason why we can't have a church meeting or seminary or Tuesday night activities because we can't fill our tanks with gas...Crazy.

We had letters read at church on Sunday telling us to fear not and that we should continue to have faith and everything will be ok. Then on Monday the news really hit home. Wachovia Bank is headquartered here and LOTS of our friends work for Wachovia. When the announcement came that Wachovia was purchased - it was a shock to everyone - including those employed at Wachovia. We are praying that everything goes well for all of our friends employeed at that bank. Lots of uncertainty in the air these days but we will fear not.
