OK, this may sound kind of hokey, but we joined the local arboretum. For those of you like me that didn't know what an arboretum is - it is a plant museum. Yes, I know, how exciting!!
Really, think of it like a giant park, with many more plants and flowers. It has tons of playground type things and plants from all over the world. I guess this is another advantage to living near a large city and we decided to support this museum.
We spent a Sunday afternoon walking through the gardens with Grandma Jody and Grandpa Bob. The different plants were amazing and the longevity is also amazing. Some of the plants were first planted in the early 1900's from places around the world. There is also a huge hedge maze and tree house.
The kids found plenty to do also. Pumping water was one of the funnest - not sure why, but the kids loved it! We made fun of Austin and here he is showing his "i'm too old to be having fun pumping water" face.
