Santa and his reindeer make out pretty well at our house, lots of cookies and carrots. Must be a favorite stop?
Bright shining faces, just waiting for presents. We required a 6:30 at the earliest wakeup. We could hear the kids gathering at about 6:00 trying to be quiet until 6:30. We finally gave in and got out of bed.
Of course the kids were excited and had a great morning opening presents. They each took turns and were kind to each other in sharing in the excitement of their presents. Austin even got a bag of coal...in addition to his many other things.
We finally got to our last present...which is a doozy. Marci thought it was finally time to quit neglecting our kids and get them a pet. I was surprised, but supportive. She then told me she thought we should get Austin a snake. Yes, an actual snake, slithering, scales and all.
They are easy to care for, don't require walks in sub zero temperatures, and can be left at home for weeks at a time alone. The perfect pet, and would actually be perfect kids...
We have a great friend at church who loves animals and breeds snakes. He was great in helping us get the snake, evening delivering it late Christmas eve so that we could make it a surprise. We had it wrapped under the tree!
It is a ball python and is about 12 inches long. I don't care to hold it, but the kids love it. We feed it live mice and it eats about once a week. The cage stays in Austin's room and we hardly notice he is there. Austin named him Chewbaca (do you get the irony dad? was what he asked me!).
Our Christmas payoff in smiles. Another very fun Christmas morning in the books.
