4th of July 2008

We started our 4th of July celebration by attending the Layton City Parade. Grandpa Dean was playing his trumpet with the Layton Main Street Band and we went down to watch. They have booths set up in the park, but it was pretty hot and we did not spend a lot of time in the park. We enjoyed seeing Grandpa Dean in the parade!

Grandpa Dean's band was playing as they passed by us and we could not get his attention. We tried to chase the float down to wave, but the parade was going much faster than the crowd, so as you can see, we saw the backside of the float. We promise he was in the parade.

Kiersten enjoyed an icee at the park while we waited for the parade to start. We all forgot how hot the desert really is and just walking from the car to the park got us heated up. We were happy that there was not much humidity, but as you can see below, as we headed up to the valley to see Grandpa Bob and Grandma Jody, Brandon zonked right out. It probably did not hurt that no one had adjusted to the time zone change, but this is also Brandon's favorite sleeping position.

Austin took grandpa and grandpa to town playing Sequence while we waited for darkness to fall and the fireworks to begin. We really enjoy being able to spend time with our family. We don't get to see them often enough, so just relaxing and doing fun things, like playing board games is a great evening for us.

Can you tell the kids are having a good time? This is the view from Grandpa Bob and Grandma Jody's house. The kids are having a fun vacation, being nice to each other and getting to know their cousins better. What you can't see in the picture below is the aftermath of Austin creating the group hug. Kiersten and Brandon bonked heads, causing them a little pain and giving the rest of us a good laugh. Austin's best intention was foiled by his strength!
